Hiding a Stain with Embroidery

I had a white skirt that had gotten some sort of discoloration/stain on it that I just couldn't get out.  Even bleach couldn't touch it.  So, to salvage the skirt, I covered the stain with embroidered flowers.  (This probably wouldn't work for dark stains)

The stain is virtually undetectable now with the yellow flowers covering it.
My embroidery was inspired by this dress:

One Shoulder Top Refashion Tutorial

This is an easy top refashion:  Use a thrifted XL shirt/t-shirt to make a cute one-shoulder summer top.

My inspiration:
The Options Abound Top from Modcloth
The Blue Hawk Blouse from Spool72

To make your own, you will need 1 XL top - t-shirt style, although mine was a silkier material - the bigger the better (mine was a size 26).

At this point, you can add an elastic waist if you choose using either elastic thread (how I did it) or sewing in a piece of elastic.

*** I used this tutorial to make my elastic casing using bias tape - worked great!***

And Into Italy

Italy is fast becoming one of my favorite places.  We were there almost 2 years ago, in Florence, Rome, and Tuscany.  This time around we got to spend some time in Milan and Lake Como, both amazing and beautiful.

I'm Back: France Part 1

In truth, I've been back for a week now but feeling a bit over-whelmed with unpacking, laundry, grocery shopping, and running my kids around to a gazillion activities!
I think I may finally be starting to feel caught up.
So, a few photos of our amazing trip through the south of France and into Italy:

Stay tuned for more trip photos tomorrow.
